Tony Pulis' Stoke won their first game of the season tonight as Robert Huth scored the last second winner against Villa at the Britannia.

Gerard Houllier was chairing a meeting of French chairmen or managers or conditioning coaches or foie gras farmers or ex-Presidents mistresses or somesuch in France tonight and couldn't make the game.

Pulis was tending to his sick mother earlier and missed the first half. He arrived in time to give the half-time teamtalk. He managed to make it to the game, as the Stoke manager. They came out and attacked Villa for every ball in the second half, and that's how you win football matches against mediocre sides.

Winner from Robert Huth here here. There is no video of Houllier's reaction as he wasn't at the game. [caption id="attachment_3915" align="alignnone" width="300" caption="Tony Pulis shows why having a manager is important"]
