Like that power sander you purchased in Aldi two years ago, and completely forgot about - until you purchased a second power sander, also in a discount supermarket - you wonder sometimes if it slips the mind of Chelsea regarding the numerous players they have bought and then sent out on loan.
One of those is Papy Djilobodji - a Senegalese defender brought in from Nantes just before the close of the transfer window in September.
The 27-year-old played just one game for Chelsea, a League Cup win against Walsall, before being sent out on loan. Djilobodji joined Werder Bremen in January, where he has since made a credible 11 appearances. Also, in that time, he has picked up five yellow cards.
During Werder's 1-1 draw with Mainz on Saturday, Djilobodji produced a moment which could land him in some trouble with the Bundesliga authorities. After clashing with Mainz midfielder Pablo de Blasis, Djilobodji made a 'slit throat' gesture in the direction of the Argentine.
He was not punished at the time.
