Well that was not good at all, was it?
At the end of the day, the boys in green were lucky to get out of Tbilisi with a point as after going 1-0 up in just three minutes, we then saw one of the most uninspiring Irish performances in recent memory.
The midfield may as well not have been there, Shane Long was asked to take on a back four on his own and chance random hoofs, and we looked shaky at the back at regular points in the game.
There really was very little to take away as a positive aside from the fact we didn't lose.
On social media, Irish fans were not shy to point out just how poor the performance was...
#GEOvIRE Anyone else getting flashbacks of the Steve Staunton management days?

Is there a chance that the Irish plyrs can't see each other in all green strip? Might explain why they havnt passed to a teammate. #GeoIrl

Whelan getting nutmegged and falling over couldn't sum up irelands performance any better #GEOIRL

Quite intrigued by the 4-5-0-0-0-0-0-0-Long formation all the same

I didn't think it was possible to play that bad. We made Georgia look like a top quality team.

Imagine an Ireland midfielder taking the ball off his keeper so that he didn't have to boot it long. What a sight that would be.

Ireland have no Midfield, lumping the ball around with no ability to string a pass together ?

Ireland dealing with a one goal lead with their usual composure. It's like we're actively horrified by the prospect of success. #GEOvIRE

It just wasn't good enough.
From the 5th minute on we had 10 behind the ball and nobody looking to receive a pass. The result is not a total disaster in terms of how the rest of the group will take shape, but Jesus, if we play like that again we don't deserve to go to a World Cup.
