Welcome to the latest in our series of The Misadventures of Diego Maradona.

The World Cup provided plenty of Misadventures for El Diego, carried off as he was after the psychodrama of Argentina's dramatic win over Nigeria. (He also seemed to have a kind of exorcism of the soul after Messi's majestic opener).

Maradona is, characteristically and unsurprisingly, still hitting headlines in the aftermath of the tournament.

On Argentine TV this week, Maradona's nephew Walter Christian Machuca appeared on Confrontados, an afternoon show that, were it set in Ireland, would probably be hosted by Maura Derrane.

Among their viewers during Machuca's appearance was El Diego, who happens to be his uncle. And not a particularly loving one at that.

Diego phoned the television station and went on air with a series of remarkable criticisms aimed toward Machuca.

Marca have translated them into English, so here they are.

*Draws deep breath*

I'm watching the number one coward, this nephew that I have.

I'm laughing at how you put together a show with this false thing, with him.

He is someone whose mother can't see him and who hasn't seen me for a long time.

He broke lots of my cars."He's someone who even stole money from me.

He's the biggest coward in the world because he hides.

With family like that, who needs enemies?
