Diego Maradona has once again denounced Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi through the media. The tension between the two Argentinians has been prevalent for quite some time now following an incident with a fellow countryman - Maxi Lopez.
As the story goes, Lopez and Icardi were teammates at Sampdoria. The former - being that bit more experienced - decided to lend a helping hand to the young Argentine who transferred to the Serie A club in 2012.
At the time Lopez was married and had three children to Wanda Nara - this is where the trouble began. In short, it was exposed by an Italian media outlet that former strike partner Mauro Icardi was having an ongoing affair with Nara. Subsequently, Lopez filed for divorce and the model was married to the Inter Milan attacker less than a year later.
Such is her infatuation with footballers that Wanda Nara has five kids with two men by the age of 30; two shy of putting together a very solid seven-a-side team.
Time has passed as Lopez now plies his trade with Torino, while Icardi proves to be one of the most prolific goalscorers in Europe - averaging a goal every second game for Inter. Yet, at 23 years of age he has only earned one cap for Argentina, which certainly speaks volumes.
One man in particular refuses to let the incident rest and continues to take issue with Icardi through the media - Diego Maradona. A true moderator of morality.
Batistuta is worth 10 of him. He is a traitor, you cannot get married to your friend’s wife after having gone out to dinner with them. What he did to Maxi López, you pay for in life.
Argentine football fans take everything that Maradona says as gospel. What he says, generally goes. If his stance is to remain the same on Icardi then we shouldn't expect those on the terraces throughout Buenos Aires to accept him any time soon.
