Deadline day here and Manchetser United's summer transfer dealings have been underwhelming.
Jose Mourinho said prior to the end of his side's tour of the United States that he would like to bring in two more players before August 9th.
Neither of those deals have transpired. A central defender has been the Portuguese manager's main priority with England and Leicester's Harry Maguire the main man linked. A monumental fee of £65 million would have been required for United to acquire Maguire. Barcelona and Colombia centre-back Yerry Mina was also linked.
"The market closes today. It is time for me to stop thinking about the market," Mourinho told BBC.
"I am not confident. I have to focus on the players I have and the next few matches."
However, according to Sky Sports, there is now a chance of a late deal for Atletico Madrid and Uruguay veteran Diego Godin.
The deadline for signings is 5pm this evening.
Manchester United are said to have contacted Atletico regarding the 32-year-old who reportedly has a £18 million release clause.
He would certainly add some real steel to the Old Trafford backline.
