Diego Costa's three-year spell at Chelsea came to an early end after several flashpoints between himself and current manager, Antonio Conte.
Costa enjoyed a successful spell for much of his career in London but never shied away from his discomfort at living in England and eventually was told he was deemed surplus to requirements by a text, as Costa himself revealed to a group of bewildered journalists:
I'm a Chelsea player, but they do not want me there. Antonio Conte has told me by message that I do not follow at Chelsea and that's it. Conte said he did not count on me for next season.
He left to rejoin former club Atlético Madrid.
Atleti were knocked out of the competition in the group stages and so tonight while watching Chelsea take on Barcelona in the Champions League, Costa posted an Instagram of the Chelsea team. In doing so he decided the manager's name was not necessary and scratched it out.
Elite levels of vindictiveness from Diego Costa as he blurs our Antonio Conte’s name. pic.twitter.com/E0YssJHhvp
