Earlier this week, Jose Mourinho said he was finished with his transfer dealings for the summer. Unsurprisingly, quite a lot of people suspected that the Chelsea manager may have been telling fibs. It seems those people may soon be proven right if reports from French newspaper L'Equipe are to be believed.
Having strengthened his squad with the signings of Cesc Fabregas, Diego Costa and Felipe Luis, Mourinho could be about to look to the past to provide further reinforcement with Didier Drogba touted for a return to Stamford Bridge.
The 36 year old Ivorian is a free agent having left Galatasaray this summer and L'Equipe are reporting that he is ready to sign a one year contract with Chelsea which could be extended to provide a coaching role in the future.
Drogba first signed for Chelsea 10 years ago to the day and enjoyed a very fruitful spell in London. His final act for the club was a heroic performance which helped Chelsea defeat Bayern Munich in the 2012 Champions League final. While Chelsea fans would no doubt welcome Drogba with open arms, it remains to be see what he could add to a strike force that already contains Costa, Romelu Lukaku and Fernando Torres.
