The Gaurdian are reporting that PSG are set to offer £47m for Angel Di Maria after Uefa relaxed their FFP rules which stopped the French club from seriously pursuing him last summer.
Their head coach Laurent Blanc has said he would like to sign the Argentinean but added the caveat:
But at our level, trying to improve your team, you are competing for players who belong to big clubs. And, even if one club has more money, you are not competing alone in the market.
We have more freedom [in the market] but it remains a difficult one for us to do because we’re not alone in wanting him. The competition is very, very tough. Don’t forget Manchester United paid a fortune to sign him. The decision to relax FFP regulations was favourable to PSG but it happened late in the day. Now it has, new avenues are open to us for recruitment. We fell behind but we’ll catch up.
Not only would PSG have to fork out £47m but they'd also have to stump up £185,000 a week for Di Maria's wages.
While he still has the potential to turn things around at United, one would have to imagine the prospect of making back a large amount of the money they've spent on other transfers this summer would be an enticing one.
Meanwhile Victor Valdes looks set to stay at the club while Liverpool are reportedly interested in Javier Hernandez but that's from the Express so I wouldn't count my chickens.
