In his post-match press conference after the loss to Spurs on Sunday, Paolo Di Canio declared that what he had done at the club was a miracle.

Sunderland were sitting in 16th place on 31 points when he was appointed and finished the season on 39 points in 17th place. They managed two wins, against Newcastle and Everton in that time along with draws against Stoke and Southampton.
