While many were watching to see if Jamie Vardy could equal Dubliner Jimmy Dunne's record of scoring in 12 consecutive English football league matches, Algerian international Riyad Mahrez well and truly stole the show with a hat-trick in a 3-0 win for Leicester over Swansea.
The two clashed on the pitch during the first half, when Mahrez tried to wrestle the ball away from Williams in order to take a quick free-kick, but despite referee Michael Oliver giving both players a stern talking to, no action was taken and the incident looked to be over and done with.
That is until the two reportedly had to be seprated outside the Swansea dressing room after the match, where the BBC explained that an incident took place which led to Williams trying to follow Mahrez onto the Leicester City team bus.
The pair had to be separated outside the Swansea dressing room, and then Williams attempted to follow Mahrez on to Leicester's team bus. Swansea City manager Garry Monk said he was unaware of the incident.
A Leicester spokesman said Mahrez did not try to enter the Swansea dressing room, but declined to comment further.
After the tunnel clash, Williams brushed past reporters in search of the Leicester bus, but soon returned inside the stadium.
That's like something out of the WWE, if only it were played on the big screen to all the supporters in the stadium.
Williams is significantly bigger than Mahrez, so we imagine that the fight would have only gone one way, although then again, marching onto the Leicester team bus looking for a scrap probably wouldn't have been a good idea, not least due to Jamie Vardy's strict "chat shit, get banged" policy.
Word of the incident quickly broke on twitter, with a number of reporters who saw the incident giving their account:
It seems Ashley Williams tried to confront @Mahrez22 in the car park. Told this wasn't down to Mahrez entering the Swansea dressing room.
