There used to be a chant that went around Anfield that went something along the lines of 'we all live in a Robbie Fowler house' to the tune of Yellow Submarine. That little ditty could soon be resurrected after Brendan Rodgers' property empire was revealed during his divorce proceedings.
Football, property and a bitter divorce. It's like the perfect soap opera for post-Celtic Tiger Ireland. Rodgers is currently in the midst of divorce proceedings with his estranged wife Susan and at the centre of it all is the fate of the couples 102 houses.
The old fashioned Irish begrudgery in us is currently screaming 'take him for all he's worth' but we'll be bigger than that and ensure that we remain impartial. According to the Belfast Telegraph, 'the property portfolio is so large it will cost the Rodgers £32,000 just to have its value independently assessed'.
During proceedings in the High Court in London this week, it emerged that Susan Rodgers was requesting half of that expansive portfolio as well as half of the Liverpool manager's future earnings.
So much for the chant then. 'We all live in half a Brendan Rodgers house' doesn't really have the same ring to it.
