Derry City have announced the unexpected signing of former Liverpool defender Andre Wisdom for the remainder of the 2024 season.
The Candystripes currently sit in second place in the League of Ireland Premier Division table, just two points behind early pace-setters Shelbourne.
As they look to chase down the Dublin side and claim a first league title since 1997, they have now made the shock announcement of Andre Wisdom's arrival until the end of the campaign.

Derry City announce signing of Andre Wisdom
Derry City made the announcement on Wednesday afternoon, confirming the 31-year-old could well be in action as early as this weekend.

In a statement, the club said:
Derry City Football Club are pleased to announce the signing of Andre Wisdom until the end of the 2024 season.
Andre spent last season with Warrington Town and will join City until the end of the season as the Candystripes tussle for the 2024 SSE Airtricity Premier Division title.
City have been searching for reinforcement in the defensive line since the departure of Cameron McJannet to Grimbsy Town during the summer.
Assuming international clearance is received, Wisdom will be part of the squad that travels to the RSC to face Waterford on Friday.
Wisdom can play at either centre- or right-back and brings major European experience to the Brandywell.
The Englishman began his youth career at Bradford City, before joining Liverpool's academy in 2008.
He would make his senior debut for the Premier League giants four years later, scoring in a 5-3 Europa League win over Young Boys at the beginning of Brendan Rodgers' time in charge.
Wisdom made 22 appearances in total for Liverpool before a string of loan spells beginning in the 2013-14 season.
Loan moves to Derby County, West Brom, Norwich City, and Red Bull Salzburg followed before Wisdom rejoined Derby on a permanent deal in the summer of 2017.
He spent last season at National League North side Warrington Town.
Derry City will hope that the arrival of Wisdom bolsters their push for that elusive Premier Division crown. The Candystripes travel to third-placed Waterford this Friday night.
