Derry City are currently taking on FC Tobol in the third qualifying round for the Europa Conference League, at Tallaght Stadium.

Kazakh side Tobol were 1-0 victors in the first leg, but Derry have evened things up with a first-half penalty from Will Patching this evening.

The Sporting Director of Tobol happens to be none other than former Man United and Everton winger Andrei Kanchelskis.

During the game tonight he gave a friendly and well-meaning interview to RTÉ, but made a slight faux pas when he was talking about the geographical location of Ireland:

I'm very, very happy and very, very glad to come back to Great Britain. It's a great atmosphere, great fans, thank you very much.

We are very pleased for British people, they are very friendly, thank you to the fans. Especially to come to Dublin from the City, Derry City.
