There was always going to be a response when Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha suggested that Aberdeen's recent upturn in form was due to come to an end, and sure enough Dons' boss Derek McInnes has come out firing.
The Portuguese had candidly expressed his belief that Aberdeen had grown as a club due to Rangers dropping out of the Premier Division in Scotland, and that the club would lose it's star players in the summer which would see the Gers have an easier chance of returning to the top two.
And McInnes was not one bit impressed.
Having revealed that he was surprised to hear the Rangers manager talk about Aberdeen so much, he claimed that the club should be embarrassed to have failed to finish in the top two.

If he thinks that doing brilliant at Rangers by being on the up, by finishing ahead of Aberdeen, then he's clearly mistaken.
His job as Rangers manager is to finish above Celtic, and he should be more concerned about that challenge.
For us, any team that finishes above Rangers in the league, with the budget they have, is doing very well.
They should probably be embarrassed they've not finished second, and I think any Premiership manager, with the budget Rangers have, would finish second in the league.
That's as much a pop at Mark Warburton as it is Caixinha, but it's clear that McInnes wasn't impressed by the way his club was talked about.
It will be interesting to see how this plays out over the final weeks of the Scottish football season, but one thing is certain, and that is that Rangers will be finishing below Aberdeen in the table.
