Denis Irwin has refused to nail down a spot for Erling Haaland in a combined XI of Manchester City's 2023 Treble-winners and Manchester United's 1999 version.
Haaland has been an absolute revelation in his first season in England, scoring 52 goals in 53 appearances in all competitions, as Man City won the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League.
The 22-year-old also won the Football Writer's Player of the Year Award, was top scorer in both the Premier League and Champions League, and certainly looks well-placed to pick up a first Ballon d'Or of his career, when the vote comes round.
Despite all this, Haaland hasn't done enough to convince Irwin that his inclusion in a combined Manchester Treble XI should be a no-brainer.
Denis Erling stumped on Erling Haaland v Andy Cole choice
Irwin was faced with eleven choices, and while four Man City players definitively made his selection, the ex-Ireland and Man United full-back was stumped when pressed on who makes it in between Haaland and Andy Cole.
"Coley was an incredible player, not just for us, but for Newcastle before he came to us," the Corkman told LiveScore.
"But Haaland... this is the toughest one, I'd say. Haaland has been incredible... Can I play both for a half? Yeah... a half each.
"Haaland has only been in the Premier League for one year but the amount of goals he scored in the first year has blown everybody out of the water.
"Physically, he could play in our era as well, but Coley could play in this era as well because he was so quick.
"It's a tough one to call, it really is. The easy answer, to everybody looking at it now, because they forget how good Coley was, is Haaland.
"But I would split it 50/50."
Denis Irwin's Treble XI
While Irwin couldn't be swayed on who leads the line in the combined Treble XI, he was more decisive in other areas of the pitch.
"Peter Schmeichel, all day long," he responded, when asked to choose a goalkeeper between the Dane and current Man City stopper Ederson.
Gary Neville and Jaap Stam make the line-up ahead of John Stones and Manuel Akanji, but Man City's Ruben Dias takes the second centre-back spot ahead of Ronny Johnsen.
Modest as ever, Irwin refused to choose himself over Nathan Ake at left-back, but fellow Corkman Roy Keane gets a central midfield spot ahead of Man City's Champions League Final matchwinner Rodri.
David Beckham v Bernardo Silva provided another selection dilemma, with Irwin eventually plumping for the Portuguese maestro.
"It's a horrible question," he said. "Different eras. Becks was a tremendous crosser of the ball, but fast-forward 20 years and Bernardo Silva is an incredible player.
"I'd like to say Becks, but I'm going to go Bernardo Silva, just to mix it up a little bit, I suppose."
Midfield and forward line
Paul Scholes gets the nod alongside Roy Keane, at the expense of Ilkay Gundogan, and it's Ryan Giggs who takes his place on the left wing, ahead of Jack Grealish.
The final spot in the team goes to Kevin De Bruyne, with Dwight Yorke being the man to miss out in favour of the Belgian.
"Yorkie was a great player for us," explains Irwin. "But Kevin De Bruyne is one of the best Premier League players I've ever seen, so I'll go De Bruyne.
