For the first time in their history, perennial Brazilian title challenger Internacional have been relegated from Serie A.
The Porto Alegre side needed a victory in their last game against Fluminense, and for results elsewhere to go their way, in order to beat the drop. Sadly for Inter fans, they didn't even hold up their side of the bargain.
One man who was far from disappointed, however, was Brazilian World Cup 2002 winner Denilson - former holder of the world record transfer fee - who now co-presents football show Jogo Aberto on Brazilian tv alongside former Miss Universe Brazil, Renata Fan.
Fan is, well, a diehard fan of Inter, and Denilson - revelling in having witnessed such an established name plummet out of the top flight (Inter's relegation is somewhat akin to one of Liverpool or Manchester United being relegated from the Premier League) - gloats through the show's opening to the point that his co-host is reduced to tears.
It's somewhat relieving to see Denilson is still up to his old tricks; we're fairly sure that pipe has actually followed him from Real Betis around the world and back to his native land.
Fan will surely seek revenge should Denilson's boyhood side, Sao Paulo - another club to never have been relegated - find themselves in Serie B in the coming years.
