After a goalless opening 33 minutes at Celtic Park in the first Old Firm derby in the league since 2012, there was a manic close to the first half which finished with Celtic leading 2-1.
The highlight was Moussa Dembele putting Celtic ahead 2-0.
Former Arsenal defender Philippe Senderos - who was making his debut for Rangers - was left embarrassed by the 20-year-old Frenchman.
After racing away, Dembele cut inside Senderos, leaving the Swiss defender on the floor. He then clinically finished with the outside of his boot.
Dembele had earlier given Celtic the lead with a header from Scott Sinclair's corner.
Dembele was the star of the game for Celtic. In the 60th minute, Dembele played in Scott Sinclair to make it 3-1 to Celtic. It was undoubtedly aided by some generous defending from Senderos.
Dembele completed his hat-trick eight minutes from the end when he finishes a Celtic counter-attacking move.
Stuart Armstrong made it 5-1 to Celtic in injury time.
