Dejan Lovren has denied any wrongdoing after he was yesterday charged with perjury in Croatia.
The Liverpool defender is accused of giving false evidence during the trial of Zdravko Mamic.
The former Dinamo Zagreb executive director was sentenced to six-and-a-half years in prison during the summer after being found guilty of personally profiting from transfers.
A Croatian court found in June that Lovren and Luka Modric received half of the transfer fees when they left Zagreb to join Lyon and Spurs, respectively. That money was then transferred back to Mamic.
In an Instagram post, Lovren said that he found out about the charges following a training session on Wednesday.
Back in March, Modric was also charged with perjury. Lovren and Modric could spend five years in jail if convicted.
"So before I saw or received the indictment at all, and before my attorneys received it, all the media reported the news," wrote Lovren.
"This is simply not fair, not just, not sporting. In this way, acting on me and my family is extremely discriminatory and unfair. A fight that is not fair and I’m not used to.
Lovren went on to deny all charges.
"I did not commit any criminal offence. I am proud of my life, every step of my life, everything that my family and I have created.
“With indignation I dismiss all accusations, and to anyone who wants to ruin my reputation and the reputation of my family, I say it will not succeed."
