It may just be a coincidence but on the day that news has broke about an impending transfer ban for Real Madrid, reports are suggesting that David De Gea is ready to commit his future to Man United.
The Spanish stopper has been heavily linked with a move to Madrid over the past year but the Independent are reporting that the 24 year old is edging closer to signing a £200,000 a week deal.
This comes at the same time that news is breaking in Spain of a transfer ban for both Real and Atletico Madrid. Marca are reporting that the city rivals have followed Barcelona's lead in invoking the ire of FIFA over the signing of underage players.
Barca have already been banned from signing any new players until January 2016 and now Real and Atletico could be about to join them with both clubs set to "be immediately banned from all transfer activity for the next two windows" (this coming summer plus the next midseason winter window).
The transfer bans come amid regular allegations that Spanish clubs have been circumventing international rules about the signing of underage players. Real have been accused in the past couple of months of wrongdoing after questions were asked about the signing of two 12 year olds from Venezuela.
Whether this news is in fact linked to De Gea is uncertain but it nonetheless looks like Louis Van Gaal can look forward to knowing he can rely on the Spanish stopper for a few more years at least.
