Former Huddersfield Town manager David Wagner will be dipping his feet back into the world of football management after he was announced as the new manager of Schalke this evening.
After qualifying for this year's Champions League 12 months ago, the club have sunk to just outside the relegation zone this season.

The German was responsible for engineering the Huddersfield's meteoric rise to the Premier League, before he left earlier this season after a poor run of form.
The new manager enjoyed a short two-year stint in Gelsenkirchen back in the mid-nineties as a player, and was a member of 1997 Uefa Cup-winning squad, before moving on to play for a number of other German outfits.
He also accumulated a number of caps for the US national team throughout his playing career.

Wagner, it is understood, joins the club on a three-year deal, taking over from interim boss Huub Stevens.
The 47-year-old left the Terriers by "mutual consent" earlier in the season, after the club managed only 11 points from 22 games.
Speaking after his announcement as the new manager of the Bundesliga side, Wagner said:
I know from my own experience as a player the strength Schalke have when the team, club and fans pull together. To delve back into this world and make a change for the better in the current situation: that's my biggest motivation to return to the Bundesliga.
Wagner famously played alongside Jurgen Klopp during his playing career, before coaching alongside the current Liverpool manager at Borussia Dortmund. During his reign in the Premier League, the Huddersfield boss could be observed enjoying a rather genial relationship with Klopp during clashes between the two clubs.
Wagner will begin in his new role from the start of next season.
