On the same day that it was announced his father, John, would no longer be continuing as manager of the Cork hurlers, it was also announced that David Meyler's time with Reading has ended early.
The club confirmed on Wednesday that the Ireland international's contract at the Madjeski has been terminated by mutual consent.
Meyler joined Reading last summer on an initial two-year deal with the option of a third year.
I’d just like to say thank you to everyone at @ReadingFC for the last year. Managers, players & all the staff involved behind the scenes. It’s been great working with you all. Best of luck with everything this season. I’m excited for the next challenge in my career. pic.twitter.com/XI6tRmXpoE

However, his spell at the club did not go well. He made just five appearances in the Championship before joining Coventry on loan in January.
Meyler made five appearances for the League One side before his season was ended by a dislocated shoulder.
The Corkman has previously played with Cork City, Sunderland and Hull.
