There's a weird phenomenon that takes place any time David Meyler becomes involved in a match for Hull City.
If you see the Cork man coming on as a sub, making an assist, a big tackle, or scoring a goal, you can always expect the same thing to happen on Twitter... Everyone makes a joke about FIFA 17.
Why? Because the Ireland international is a massive fan of the football game and is actually really, really good. He's so good that he streams his gameplay sessions live on Twitch against professional gamers, and the highest ranked FIFA players in the world.
As a result he has become somewhat of a legend in the FIFA community, as he is someone who actually plays FIFA hardcore but also plays real football in the Premier League. He's living the dream.
Here's the assist, a lovely cushioned ball back across goal for Oumar Niasse to tap home:
And here is the reaction, which happens on a regular basis around Hull games:

But mostly he has become a well known player because of his love for FIFA.
We can't stress how good he is though, it's ridiculous. He plays competitive tournament FIFA pretty much every weekend and is getting results that pro players would be jealous of.
Here he is opening the reward packs that he won while playing 'Weekend League':
The FIFA community on Twitch and YouTube is absolutely massive. While for Meyler he's just having some fun and using his free time to enjoy one of his hobbies, he's actually building a big fan base and making a name for himself online.
We're still hoping to get a game against him sometime soon, but for the meantime fair play to him for what he's doing. Oh, and the whole being an international footballer thing, that's cool too.
