It was always an awful call to have one of the most insufferable DJ's around make the official song for Euro 2016, and sure enough David Guetta has gone out of his way to find the most irritating melody he can.
House music is house music, pop music is pop music, but the insistence that these two genres must be merged together is something that is particularly grating, especially for fans of house, as the radio airwaves have been flooded with repetitive beats, saxophones, and percussion instruments, but 'This One's For You' takes this to a new level of crap.
Clearly trying to sound similar to the likes of 'Major Lazer' who have had hits in recent months, Guetta's effort will fool fans in France into thinking that a car alarm is going off somewhere nearby.
Awful.
The lyrics are totally superficial and meaningless, and the beat is grating. But then we knew what we were getting into, didn't we?
Official tournament songs are very rarely good, but there are exceptions. What needs to be considered is the instrumental will be played so much over the course of the summer, as nearly every national broadcaster's intro music, so again, big thanks to David for making that a painful experience.
