It looks like David de Gea is set to stay at Manchester United next season. According to a report on Spanish website 'AS', De Gea has been convinced to stay at Old Trafford by the arrival of Jose Mourinho, who "who talked to him and convinced him to continue at Old Trafford."
Today is the deadline for Real Madrid to activate the €5o million buyout clause in de Gea's contract that was inserted last summer but, with Mourinho's arrival and the form of Keylor Navas last season, the Champions League winners will not be meeting that clause today.

After Atlético Madrid, de Gea's old side, were defeated by Real in the European final, the goalkeeper admitted that he "did not cry afterwards" but nevertheless "did suffer" from watching Diego Simeone's men lose to their greatest rivals.
It doesn't seem likely that de Gea would have produced such comments last summer, when he seemed itching to leave Manchester. His commitment to the Mourinho is sure to be a huge boost ahead of next season, and with the 'Special One' finally landing the job he has always wanted, he is sure to want to add to his new squad over the summer period.
