From 'unidentified fan' to good mates, Robbie Keane and David Beckham grew very fond of each other during their time together in LA.

Their chemistry on-pitch was clear to see, and off the pitch they hit it off as well so as we were expecting something from the former Manchester United and Real Madrid megastar, and he did not disappoint.

Almost as keen an Instagram user as Robbie himself, Beckham took to the social media platform to wish pay tribute to the service Robbie paid to his country.

145 caps , 67 goals .. Passion and love for the game especially when playing for his country .. Doesn't matter where he plays he scores goals.. Sad to see Keano retiring from Ireland but this last game wed should be a huge celebration.. Congrats mate.

We never thought David Beckham would be looking forward to an Ireland friendly against Oman, but there you go.

Of course Becks, like every other LA Galaxy fan, is surely delighted that Robbie won't be missing games for international duty anymore.
