After taking a hell of rollicking from Alex Ferguson in his new autobiography, it's fair to say Roy Keane was probably feeling a little downtrodden regarding his years at Man United. However, he definitely still has at least one friend amongst his United alumni, as David Beckham has come out in support of the Corkman.

Speaking at the launch of his own book yesterday, Becks gave his thoughts on his former teammate, 'For me, Roy Keane is the best captain I've ever played under. He had two career threatening injuries and he set the example for us young kids.'

Bar defending Keane, Beckham was as uncontroversial as ever when also responding to the criticism Ferguson levelled at the former England captain in his book. That being said, he has ruled him out as a possible manager for his new MLS club.

Speaking about his transfer to Real Madrid, Beckham opened up about how he wasn't able to watch a United for two years after he left:

'When I joined Manchester United I never wanted to leave them, when they told me they were going to sell me was the first time I spoke to Real Madrid.

'I knew my dream was over and I had to speak to another team. I couldn't watch United for two years, I was that gutted. It was that difficult to leave.'

Ah he's a gent.
