Not an April Fool's joke. The dream is dead. More news as we get it.
According to venerable football source Sport360, O'Leary has been having a Houllier-esque time in Dubai, with Al Ahli doing so bad that supporters have switched sides to support their local rival.
... a new low for O’Leary, who has had to endure a torrid time at the Dubai club, where his reputation is in tatters particularly among the club’s fans, who switched allegiances and threw their weight behind visiting Ittihad Kalba, the club’s opposition last week.
His side had just lost 5-1 to Al-Jazira yesterday and O'Leary opted to skip the post-match presser. He did, though, conduct a random interview in the car park, where expressed some of his thoughts on his team:
"We fell apart. The best team won the second half. We're struggling. We're losing a lot of centre-backs. We've got injuries. Fabio [Cannavaro] is hurt, and we've got three other centre-backs hurt. The lad [Khalid Mohammed] who had to come off at half time was our last one. We had nobody else. He got hurt; he twisted his ankle. We had to put in a lad [Ahmed Salem] who doesn't play there, and the second half we looked very vulnerable because of that. And as well, the second half, a few players, I won't say who here, I've said it in the dressing room, just didn't perform for us.
"The one thing we didn't need, if anything, was to lose a player in the centre-back position. When you come to Al Jazira, that's one position you don't want to be losing players. We had nobody else."
His most memorable moment in charge may have been taking on Zlatan and losing.
