Ipswich Town striker Daryl Murphy had a fantastic season in the Championship last season, finishing as the top goalscorer in the league.
Normally, when someone fires the goals in at Championship level like Murphy did, they spend the summer being linked with a move to "bigger and better things" which doesn't always work out. Just ask Michael Chopra. That regular occurrence has been no different for Murphy, who has been linked with clubs in the Premier League as well as the likes of Middlesbrough who will be looking to finally escape from the Championship next term, but today the rumours have died as he put pen to paper on a new deal with Ipswich.

Good news for Mick McCarthy, who last month revealed that some of the offers for Murphy were ridiculous, but now he can rest easy knowing his star striker will be there for the new season.
It's good news for Murphy too, as he has hit a purple patch of form at Portman Road and clearly believes his best chance of replicating that form next season is to stay put. A sensible decision perhaps instead of fighting for minutes in the Premier League.
