With around ten minutes remaining in Preston and Arsenal's FA Cup third round tie on Saturday evening, Daryl Horgan came off the bench to make his debut for the Championship side.

The game was tied at 1-1 at the time after Aaron Ramsey's goal shortly after half-time had cancelled out Callum Robinson's early opener.

Horgan certainly made an impact on the game, getting on the ball on several occasions in a short time on the pitch.

Preston manager Simon Grayson told the Lancashire Evening Post this week that he was been impressed with the 25-year-old's cameo in what turned out to be a 2-1 loss for North End.

I thought Daryl affected the game when he came on.

He is a player who has the potential to excite the fans and do well for us.

It is good to have players in the squad who can fit straight into what we want to do.

This weekend, Preston play Brighton in the Championship. It could see the meeting of two former Dundalk stars - Daryl Horgan vs Richie Towell. That is if Brighton manager Chris Hughton was sufficiently impressed with Towell's showing in Saturday's cup win against MK Dons and Grayson likewise with Horgan.

Of course, there's also the possibility of Andy Boyle - the centre-back who moved from Dundalk to Preston along with Horgan this month - featuring in the game.
