Darren O'Dea left the Toronto FC squad hours before their game with Kansas City to finalize a transfer to an unnamed Ukrainian league club. O'Dea who captains Toronto was subject to this statement released by the club just before kick-off when his name was conspicuous by its absence on the teamsheet.
O'Dea's manager, former Blackburn and Tottenham Hotspur defender Ryan Nelson had this to say on the subject and also reveled that in a league with the likes of Thierry Henry, O'Dea was the most expensive player in terms of salary cap:
O'Dea himself tweeted after the game and disagreed with Nelson's assertion that he wanted to leave:
For every1 asking I'm discussing terms with another team. Not what I want! Not got a choice! I'll update you when things are clearer!

All in all, an interesting night for young Darren.
