Darren O'Dea is set to join Indian Super League side Mumbai City.
The 28-year-old, who has 20 caps for Ireland, spent the latter half last season in the Championship with Blackpool.
O'Dea told BBC Scotland that it will be a relatively short stay with the side who recently appointed Nicolas Anelka as player/manager.
I have spoken to 20 to 30 teams, but my little girl starts school this year and we're settled up in Scotland.
So moving would have been a big decision.
It is actually only a four-month league, so I'll go there and, although they'll probably visit once or twice, it will leave them settled.
Come Christmas, the Dubliner will against be looking for a new club.
The contract runs until 22 December, which is the final over there, so after that I'll have Christmas at home and from 1 January will be looking to play again, wherever that may be.
O'Dea is a well-travelled individual when it comes to his employment as a footballer. He has previously played for MLS side Toronto FC and Ukrainian team Metalurh Donetsk.
