Darren Fletcher is one of the most well-respected players currently playing Premier League football, as after a long and successful period with Manchester United that included an incredible recovery from an illness that very easily could have forced him into early retirement, he then enjoyed somewhat of a renaissance at West Brom.
His form over the past few seasons has been outstanding, and he's still producing the goods on a regular basis, which makes it even better that he is one of the nicest men in football.
While nobody has a bad word to say about him, he has a lot of very nice words to say about his teammates, as he gave one of the kindest 'Teammates' interviews to FourFourTwo recently, where we were delighted to see Ireland's James McClean mentioned a number of times.
The first instance was when Fletcher was posed the question, 'Who never stops running?', and without missing a beat he described the Derryman as the fittest person he had seen in football.
James McClean. Probably the fittest guy I've ever come across in football, and that's, you know, I've played with a lot fit players. I used to think of myself back in the day as one of the fittest box to box but I think James would blow me out the water.
Speed and unbelievable endurance he really is a freak and another one who works incredibly hard at it.
That is some praise considering the players that Fletcher has played with in the past, most notably Park Ji-Sung who had a reputation for an outstanding level of fitness.
McClean's name would pop up again when it came to 'Who flys into tackles in training?', as the Scot was not so kind when it came to that aspect of his teammate's game:
Yeah you've got two. James McClean and Callum McManaman, red cards waiting to happen, especially in training. Both of them used to play in the same team at Wigan so we used to say I don't know how they stayed with 10 men on the pitch, I think Uwe Rossler could only trust to play one of them at a time because he didn't want to go down to nine men.
But yeah, there's some wild challenges from the Scouser and the Irishman.
McClean has yet to be shown a red card this season after picking up one in each of his last three seasons in English football, but by the sounds of things he leaves his more questionable tackling on the training pitch.
His commitment to a tackle is one of the reasons why Irish fans love him so much, and thankfully we don't expect that to change anytime soon.
