Danny Mills’ Suggested Punishment For Luis Suarez Is Completely Nuts

Former Leeds United and England fullback Danny Mills gave his opinion on the Suárez biting incident after the game yesterday.

Working as a pundit for BBC Radio 5 Live, Mills said that any ban should extend into the club season and be a worldwide ban from all forms of the game, not just internationals.

He also let his outrage get the better of him in the immediate aftermath of the game when he suggested how long his ban should be, and where he should serve it.

Said Mills:

These are exceptional circumstances. They must be able to ban him worldwide for this. It’s the third time it has happened. It’s a clear bite, it’s absolutely ridiculous.

I think Liverpool and Brendan Rodgers must be panicking now; they’ll be thinking “we’ve got this player who’s worth £50,60 million – he could be banned for the whole season”

Three strikes, surely you’ve gotta be out.

Biting someone again, in a tournament of this magnitude, the most watched tournament in the world. I’m sorry but they have got to throw the book at him – they’ve got to throw him in jail and lock him up forever.

Eh?

I know it looks really, really bad, but a whole life sentence, without parole? I know Fifa set up their own courts at the World Cup, but I can’t see Mills’ recommendation gaining much support in official circles.
