Last Night's Win For Wales Sent Danny Baker Into Meltdown About England AGAIN

England losing to Iceland on Monday - when taken in conjunction with all that had happened in the days previous - was fundamentally one of the funniest things to happen in 2016. There is a strand of thought that argues the internet has ruined football, and while this football website is duty bound to not entirely agree, we have some sympathy for this view: the fresh hell of an internet stream lagging behind your twitter feed/Whatsapp group; the removal of the mystery surrounding foreign players; memes.

England/Iceland proved the merits of following football online, however, with more viral moments than you could shake a selfie stick at. (Seriously? - Ed).

The height of them all was Steve McClaren renewing his patent on the word hapless on Sky Sports, proving once and for all that his life is set to the Curb Your Enthusiasm soundtrack. Also vying for attention was Chris Waddle's anguished 'THEY'RE HEADPHONES' diatribe against the English players, a contemplative Ian Wright liking the English defeat to Space Jam, and Alan Shearer showing admirable analytical qualities in coldly deconstructing the English performance before he ruined it all by pleading with the British taxpayer for the job.

Then there was Danny Baker, the BBC DJ who responded to the game by melting online. Here is a portion of the rant. The rest of it can be found here.

The only down side to Wales' magnificent win against Belgium will prove to be the number of think pieces it will launch about England, that English should display the kind of fearless attitude that Wales showed. Among those to use Welsh success to accentuate the failings of England was Danny Baker:

Baker knows a thing or two about the death of a nation's dreams. He has, in the past, has been forced to deny he killed Bob Marley. No, really.
