Up to 1,000 Irish supporters may find themselves disappointed come 8:45pm in Copenhagen on Saturday night.
According to the Irish Times, fans who purchased tickets designated for home supporters but gave an Irish address for their delivery will not receive the tickets for the away leg of the playoff between Ireland and Denmark.
Demand has been high for both legs of the playoff with tickets for the home leg at the Aviva on Tuesday selling out swiftly after becoming available.
Jacob Wadland, who is communications director of the Danish Football Federation, said that his organisation will be strict in preventing away fans from entering home supporter sections at the Parken Stadium.
All of the tickets intended for Irish fans were sent to the Irish federation for distribution, and so the only way to order a ticket to be mailed to Ireland was to buy in the Danish section. None of these tickets have been mailed.
I presume that these supporters have not been able to get tickets in the Irish section and have panicked and bought tickets for other parts of the ground. They might be thinking that it will be okay but it will not be okay. We will be quite strict about this.
Ireland received an official allocation of 2,305 tickets for the away leg.
