Leeds United's long-running bid to secure Swansea winger Daniel James collapsed in the final hour of deadline day leaving the club furious.
Marcelo Bielsa's side had been linked with Daniel James for some time now, who was seen as their preferred option after reports also linked the club to Republic of Ireland international Callum O'Dowda.
Per Talksport, Andrea Radrizzani, the Leeds owner agreed a £1.5m loan fee with Swansea for the player which included a clause that would see the club obliged to sign the Wales international permanently for a further £7m if they secured Premier League promotion.
However, Swansea owners, Steve Kaplan and Jason Levien and chairman Huw Jenkins are reported to have disagreed on the deal and the club pulled out in the final hour.
I am very disappointed like all of @LUFC fans, we did all we could and accepted all requests...but you always need two parties to agree to make a deal and we always had one single target player, none else. We move on and keep fighting in our next 17 finals #MOT 💛💙 Together

Speaking to the Telegraph, the player's agent David Manasseh was strongly critical of the Welsh club.
Swansea made no attempt to keep the player and at the first sign of money they couldn’t show him the door quickly enough. It is very disappointing but the player is philosophical about it.
Leeds are likely to return and try sign the player this summer, given James will not sign a new contract and has 18 months left on his contract.
