Damien Duff and Shelbourne fell to a 3-1 defeat to Drogheda United on Friday night, and one ex-Shels man had a fairly pointed celebration stored up when he scored for Drogheda.
Ryan Brennan departed Shelbourne in January and, after putting Drogheda 3-1 up, he appeared to make a point towards his former manager Damien Duff.
Ex-Ireland international Duff was reported to have fallen out with Brennan as the forward exited Shelbourne in January, and the hostility continued in Drogheda's Friday night win.

Ryan Brennan scored two goals for Drogheda in their 3-1 win over Shelbourne on Friday night. It was his goal celebration after his brilliant second strike, however, that really caught the eye of Irish football punters.

Ahead of the game in Drogheda, Shelbourne manager Damien Duff had suggested that Brennan and other former Shels players in the Drogheda side might be playing with a vengeance.

Ryan Brennan was released by Damien Duff early in Duff's reign as Shelbourne manager, despite being a crucial part of the promotion campaign.
Brennan appeared to take aim after his brilliant volleyed second goal, which put Drogheda 3-1 up. His celebration, in which he patted his stomach, seemed to be a response to comments he claims were made on his departure from the club.
Brennan was asked by LMFM Radio what it meant to score against Shels:
Not so much to score against Shelbourne - I think there were a few words exchanged that were quite out of order from one professional to another.
Being called 'fat boy' by a former pro that played at the top of the game, I think it's fairly disrespectful.
Another former Shelbourne man, Dayle Rooney, scored the other goal, compounding the embarrassment for Damien Duff on a tough night for the Drumcondra side.
The win for Drogheda puts them within one point of Shelbourne, but the Dubliners crucially have three games in hand.
