Damien Duff is absolutely loving playing in the A-League. The former Irish international signed for Melbourne FC on a one-year deal in June after being released by Fulham at the end of last season.
Duffer played a pivotal role in the Aussie side's 1-1 draw with Sydney FC at the weekend, setting up Spanish sharpshooter David Villa with a great assist. He admitted that he is delighted with his new home down under, so much so that he wishes he had made the move earlier.
The plan was always to do one year here and go home to get the kids started in school there.
But I’m going to embrace it while I’m here, enjoy my football and hopefully do the business.
I’ve been set up here for two or three months now and you could possibly say I wish I came here a year or two earlier.
Life is short and your football career is even shorter. It’s just been to taste something new and I’ve enjoyed my time so far.
