John Giles and Eamon Dunphy stayed away from the RTE panel tonight.
While Gilesy is presumably too busy pounding the streets on behalf of Aodhan O'Riordan, Eamon has been told to stay lest he contract a dose of Damien Duff dizziness, that lethal pandemic which swept the Far East in the summer of 2002. Full backs were especially vulnerable.
Damien Duff made his debut as a pundit on RTE tonight. His style tended towards the blunt rather than the flowery and the laid-back rather than the hyperactive. He was more Liam Brady than Dunphy.
Really enjoying Damien Duff's analysis on RTÉ Champions League panel tonight. Shades of ROG in how he calls it as he sees it. Great addition

"Some of these lads earn €200,000 a week. How much can you spend in a lifetime? I'd just go somewhere and play football." - Damien Duff

Damien Duff a 500% upgrade on Dunphy & Giles, actually knows something about the modern game #ChampionsLeague #RTE

There were dissenting voices, specifically focused on Duff's rather stale opinion on the history of the origins of diving.
Damien Duff is one clueless pundit. Cliche ridden and his opinion that diving is coming from these countries comment.

Jesus Damien duff is a boring ol fuck all the same

It's also very heartening to see that despite only spending a few short months at Rovers, that he is still dragged into Dublin-derby pissing contests on twitter.
Ah there's Damien Duff on RTE. Nice to see he found his way out of Lorcan Fitzgerald's pocket #Bohs #LOI

Damien Duff admits he's finding it hard to adapt to punditry after spending several months as the anchor sinking Rovers' title ambitions.
