The Mixed Reaction To Damien Duff's Punditry Debut On RTÉ

John Giles and Eamon Dunphy stayed away from the RTE panel tonight.

While Gilesy is presumably too busy pounding the streets on behalf of Aodhan O'Riordan, Eamon has been told to stay lest he contract a dose of Damien Duff dizziness, that lethal pandemic which swept the Far East in the summer of 2002. Full backs were especially vulnerable.

Damien Duff made his debut as a pundit on RTE tonight. His style tended towards the blunt rather than the flowery and the laid-back rather than the hyperactive. He was more Liam Brady than Dunphy.

There were dissenting voices, specifically focused on Duff's rather stale opinion on the history of the origins of diving.

It's also very heartening to see that despite only spending a few short months at Rovers, that he is still dragged into Dublin-derby pissing contests on twitter.
