"Never Trust Dutch Strikers"- Duffer Sparks Quality RTÉ Pundit Moment

Damien Duff sparked a moment of pub-talk punditry gold on RTÉ's Wednesday night coverage of the Champions League, when he did what most football fans have done at some stage by listing the Dutch footballers that have flopped in English football.

Vincent Janssen was the player who provoked Duff to claim that he "would never trust a striker coming over from Holland", apart from Denis Bergkamp, who was the exception.

You could see the grin form on Dunphy's face as he interrupted a list featuring the likes of Afonso Alves and Mateja Kezman to throw Ruud Van Nistelrooy into the discussion, as clearly Eamon, like many of us, has had this exact discussion over a pint of the black stuff.

Duff then admitted that there were two exceptions. A great moment.

Robin Van Persie is another one, lads.

Knowledge of Dutch strikers in England aside, we're loving Duff on the panel mainly because he speaks his mind and calls a spade a spade. This type of casual discussion is why viewers tune in to the RTÉ coverage, it's stuff that real football fans talk about that you won't see elsewhere with massive iPads and clichés until the cows come home.
