Cork City arrived in Dalymount Park tonight knowing that they would need a win against Bohemians to keep their title-challenge alive. Well, after only 10 minutes of play, those demands were dealt a lethal blow after a miscued Damien Delaney pass.
Starting well, Bohemians put the pressure on last year's double-winners from the off. Appearing to dominate the middle of the field, their pressure told when Delaney found himself receiving the ball in a less than ideal position.
Working off instinct, the former Premier League defender passed back to his 'keeper Peter Cherrie. Problematically, Damien Delaney completely mis-read where his Cherrie was standing.
Incredible!!! Bohs lead, thanks to an unbelievable own goal from Damien Delaney https://t.co/g1jeauosfl #RTEsoccer pic.twitter.com/iAlCcMOcwi

A fairly sickening way to concede the opening goal of this game, John Caulfield would have been hoping his Cork side could reply quickly.
However, it didn't take too long for Bohemians to grab their second, and then their third. Cork dragged it back to 3-1, but only before Bohemians got their fourth of the night for a commanding half-time lead.
