Irish football legend Damien Delaney's absolute gem of a fantasy dinner has broken the internet once again, with fans revelling in the unexpected choices of the Corkman.
While Damien Delaney only earned nine international caps, the Cork man enjoyed stellar stints at Leicester, Ipswich, QPR, Hull and most notably Crystal Palace where he played a fundamental role in the 2013 team who earned promotion.
While Delaney is these days one of Ireland's most articulate football pundits, his choices for a Crystal Palace fantasy Come Dine With Me dinner made back in 2020 are raising eyebrows again today.
With Palace players past and present, prompted to choose dinner party guests 'with no restrictions and no judgements on who they choose' Damien Delaney has picked a table that could either be the greatest dinner party of all time or the bloodiest dinner party of all time.
Keith Richards - The Rolling Stones
First up is Keith Richards, one of rock and roll's most famous faces, Richards was a guitarist for the Rolling Stones and outside of that, well known for his crazy antics throughout the Rolling Stones' years of madness. These antics have been enough to earn Richards a spot at Delaney's prize table, with the Corkonian saying ' He'd be my number one dinner guest. The Stories man. I was a little bit obsessed with the stones and still am, to be honest.'
Joseph Stalin - Soviet Union Leader
While not a rock and roll star, Stalin was certainly making a mark for as long as Richards has been. The dictator ruled the Soviet Union with fear and an iron fist for 30 years from 1922 to 1952. According to Damien Delaney Stalin gets a seat because ' I'm fascinated by Russian History. Not because I'm a Stalinist, I'm not. I'm fascinated by Tsarist Russia, the changeover in 1917 and the Bolsheviks and that side of it. Lenin and Stalin and then Stalin is in the cabinet with Lenin and rises to power and rules with an iron fist.
Genghis Khan - Leader of the Mongol Empire
Khan who historians speculate could have brutally murdered millions of people during his conquests where he formed one of the world's empires is Delaney's third pick because 'A guy in a village at 15 rose from literally nothing to become arguably the most powerful warlord there was in an amazingly short span of time. His leadership and ferocity is probably unmatched'.
Chairman Mao - The People's Republic Of China
Yet another dictator. Mao fits right in at the table after brutally ruling China for 33 years. Damien Delaney invited Mao for his sense of personality, saying ' Imagine uniting a community of a billion or so people. The force of personality these people must have had is insane'
Napoleon Bonaparte - Emperor of France
Another man who loved the battlefield. On Napoleon - Delaney says: 'I don't admire these people, but I have an absolute fascination with historical leaders.'

While Damien Delaney's table is certainly heavy on dictators, the man is obviously interested in his history's major figures. We're just not sure what Keith Richards would make of it.
