As you may have seen this weekend, some Celtic fans decided to pool their hard earned money and take out a full page ad in the Scottish Sunday Herald explaining to other fans why they think Rangers aren't actually Rangers.
The ad was organised ahead of the Scottish League Cup semi-final between Celtic and Rangers this coming Sunday and it certainly caused some debate among Scottish football fans and among Celtic fans themselves. On one hand you had those in favour of the ad saying that Rangers have ruined Scottish football and they should be made pay with everything they have/had.
Elsewhere, you had others pointing out how counter-productive it was to be so concerned (to the tune of £3000 for that ad) with a club that you believe doesn't even exist. Celtic legend Kenny Dalglish is certainly in the latter camp.
It’s Rangers. If you’re a Celtic fan, it’s still Rangers isn’t it? It doesn’t matter that Rangers have been through the mire for three years. You’re still playing Rangers. You can’t take that away. Rangers is an iconic name of Scottish football, as is Celtic.
So what does he think of the the Celtic fans who decided it was worth their time taking out the ad? Not a lot at all.
If people want to do that, you’d need to ask them. It’s like asking me why a psychopath does what he does.
Get off the fence there Kenny.
