It has emerged that Cristiano Ronaldo's mother was stopped at Madrid Airport last month with €55,000 in her hand luggage. Spanish law states that any sum over €10,000 must be declared due to money laundering and tax evasion laws introduced in 2007.

Unfortunately for Dolores Aveiro, she had quite a bit more than that and when asked why she had it, she had no explanation. Authorities will hold on to the excess €45,000 until she can prove its origin and pay a small fine.

As a youngster, who among us did not dream of making enough money as a professional footballer so that you could buy your parents a nice house in the country? Through hard work and dedication Cristiano Ronaldo has managed to bring this dream to life. But in true Ronaldo fashion he has gone and exceeded anything you could have dreamed of.

He proves that his dreams are better than your dreams. Sure, he bought the house for his mother, but why stop there when you are a global phenomenon. You know you have made it to the top of the game when you earn a large enough salary so that your mother can walk around with huge wads of cash on her person and not even know why she has it.
