Speaking at a debate in the Oxford Union, Blatter gave a rather idiosyncratic take on the qualities of both Messi and Ronaldo. Towards the end he made one of the tamest and least edgy jokes of all time. Cristiano seems to have taken umbrage at it. One of the least offensive things Blatter has done during his long reign as President of FIFA.

We suspect that Blatter was referring to Ibrahimovic when he said "Abramovich" needs to be considered along with Messi and Ronaldo.
Blatter has been forced into an apology. A two tweet long apology no less. How contrite.
Dear @Cristiano. I apologise if you were upset by my light-hearted answer at private event on Friday. I never meant to offend you. (1/2)
