Cristiano Ronaldo attracted the scorn of Europe during the summer for the audacity of criticising little ol' Iceland; Ronnie skewered their "small mentality" in drawing with Portugal. The Portuguese has a Partrdigeian (we think that's a word?) to having the last laugh, however, and it was ultimately he whose guffaws were longest heard, with Portugal ultimately winning the whole thing.
It's sort of understandable that Ronaldo would have little or no time for an opponent as small as Iceland: he has made a career swatting aside with extreme prejudice opponents who have the gall to be inferior to him. Plus, Iceland has a population of 323,000. Ronaldo has a Facebook following of more than 117 million, so you can understand if he feels bigger than a volcanic island in the Atlantic.
Ronaldo was doing plenty of media yesterday, and went from the press conference announcing his new Madrid contract to a junket promoting his new Nike Mercurials, and Ricardo Quaresma along with a friend of his decided that they would attempt the impossible: have the last laugh over Cristiano.
To do so, they concocted an ingenious ploy to pull the piss out of their teammate. It played out over Snapchat, and you can watch it unfold below.

The cynic in us bends towards thinking that Ronaldo may have been in on this from the beginning, and was merely his latest marketing ploy, but maybe we shouldn't belittle Ronaldo. A small mentality, that.
