Cristiano Ronaldo was recently asked who he thinks the five most promising talents in world football are, and from his response it's quite clear he's not going to move into scouting when his playing career has finished.
Ronaldo has faced some of the top rated youngsters in world football already this season, such as Alen Halilovic who has been turning heads for Sporting Gijon while on loan from Barca, Angel Correa from Atletico Madrid, and Jose Luis Gaya of Valencia to name but a few, but instead Ronaldo opted for a 24 year old Eden Hazard, and just look at his final suggestion when he was asked to pick his top five young players in the game today:
There are many players with great potential, I'll mention Martin Odegaard, the real Madrid player for example, he's only 16, very young, but he's a very good player. There is also Hazard, Manchester United's number seven Memphis Depay is also a good player, Pogba, and perhaps Neymar.
Perhaps Neymar... Perhaps?
Neymar is currently atop La Liga's scoring charts with one more goal than Ronaldo, not to mention a Ballon d'Or contender, and easily one of the very best players in the game today. He might be a player, that lad.
Paul Pogba and Eden Hazard are hardly in the "potential" category either, just to round off a fairly baffling collection of potential young talents.
