Cristiano Ronaldo is now a podcaster, and it offers an opportunity to hear his side of things when it came to fall outs and controversies during his glittering career.

With former Man United defender Rio Ferdinand welcoming him on RIO Meets, his days at Old Trafford were at the centre of conversation.

Looking back at his time playing under Sir Alex Ferguson, the two shared a laugh at some of the lighter moments in the dressing room, and recalled some of the old nicknames that they used to have for each other.

“Oh Sheasy had a good one as well remember?” Ferdinand said. “He didn’t have a nickname, but you used to kill him in the changing room.

The Portugal captain is obviously very proud of his own physique, so it is easy to imagine that he would have a lot to say when it came to his teammates, and their body composition.

Wayne Rooney didn't get off any lighter, and Paul Scholes' nickname wasn't quite as inventive.

“Wazza. Rat. Scholes, Ginger."

In a more serious part of the interview, the conversation turned to his latest stint at United and how things turned sour under current manager Erik ten Hag.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner said: “Man United's coach cannot say they can’t compete to win the Premier League and the Champions League every year.

“This is Man United! You have to be there, to mentally say… listen, maybe we don’t have that potential, but I cannot say that. We’re going to try. You have to try.

“This is why Man United need to rebuild. If Ten Hag listens to Ruud van Nistelrooy… maybe he can help. He knows the club and the club should listen to the guys who were there, as this is really important.

“Rio Ferdinand, Roy Keane, Paul Scholes, Gary Neville, Sir Alex Ferguson… you need advice from these people.

“You cannot rebuild a club without knowledge."

It's clear that Ronaldo views his time with united the same way that most fans do, a very successful and romantic first stint, and less enjoyable second term.
