Coventry City will likely have to play their home games outside of the city next season after a disagreement with the owners of the Ricoh Arena over unpaid rent. This hasn't sat well with their fans, with one in particular promising to go on a 24 hour hunger strike each time they play a home game outside the city.
Speaking to the Coventry Telegraph, fan Nigel Warren said:
“If it’s a Saturday match I’ll begin my protest at midnight on the Friday and continue through to midnight Saturday night. It may sound silly but what the owners are planning really hurts.
“The fans are really annoyed and disgusted at the way we are being treated and maybe something like this will make the club sit up and listen.”
“I’d rather stay in bed all day and not eat.”
“I love the club and will look out for the result but I won’t be going to home games if they move out of the city.”
The pie and pasty sales in their proposed stadium will obviously take a massive hit next season.
